Summer is here and so are higher temperatures! With that being said, styles change and there are multiple things to consider with your suit wardrobe. Whether it’s materials, colors, or accessories, summer provides opportunity to try new things since employer dress codes tend to be more lenient. With the following tips, your professional summer wardrobe can flourish and stand out for all the right reasons.
In the cooler months, suit fabrics like wool, tweed, and cashmere not only look professional, but they keep you warm. In the summer, these suits still look great, but you might want to consider a lighter material that breaths well. This will help keep you cool and maintain your style at the same time. Some summer fabrics to consider include: linen, cotton, seersucker, fresco, and chambray
Outside of summer months, suit colors like charcoal, navy, grey, and black are seen by the overwhelming majority of professionals. As temperatures increase, all of these colors absorb so much heat, leaving you feeling like you’re in a personalized oven. Instead of selecting colors that absorb heat, I’d suggest going with some options that will do a better job of reflecting heat. This will leave you much more comfortable and give you an opportunity to stand out in the workplace. Some of my favorite summer suit colors include: light grey, blue, khaki, red, or even maroon if you don’t mind being a little on the warm side.
